The nationally ranked Braves team was chosen from a large pool of applicants from across the country and will receive roughly $60,000 worth of New Balance and Brine lacrosse gear as part of the deal. “In telling their story, New Balance has a unique opportunity to transmit our own excitement and devotion to the great sport of lacrosse,” Lauren Ostrom, the company’s integrated marketing associate, said in a statement.

As a long-time Susan G. Komen for the Cure® partner, New Balance is committed to supporting the mission of Komen for the Cure® and raising funds through corporate and consumer donations. In 2009, New Balance will donate up to $1 million (with a guaranteed minimum donation of $500,000) to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® from the proceeds of the Lace Up for the Cure® Collection.

To celebrate the anniversary, New Balance will debut a special edition 993 running shoe. The 993 is a heritage shoe and is the latest offering from the most enduring technical athletic shoe series in the footwear industry. The special edition 993, an all pink suede shoe, features the Komen for the Cure® pink ribbon, an insert adorned with an anniversary logo denoting the twenty-year partnership and a hangtag that details New Balance’s commitment to Komen for the Cure®. All special edition 993s will be manufactured in the U.S. and distributed in a new pink and black anniversary box with matching tissue paper, all featuring the Komen pink ribbon. The box’s inside cover explains additional information about New Balance’s relationship with Komen. The special edition New Balance 993 will debut in August 2009 with a suggested retail price of $140.00.

In July, a limited number of customizable anniversary 993s will be available for purchase. Consumers can personalize the tongue of the shoes with the name of a survivor or loved one and one of the following phrases: “In Honor of”, “Running for”, or “Lace Up!” Additional details about the customizable 993 program will be released in the coming months.

The New Balance 769, New Balance 1063, and New Balance 904 are all series that continue to bring recognition to New Balance’s initiatives in increased performance and awarness of the brand.

A recent article was written in Main Today by Doug Harlow about Senator Collins visit to the New Balance Norridgewock, ME manufacturing plant.

NORRIDGEWOCK — Republican Sen. Susan M. Collins said Tuesday that bringing jobs back to America is the key to a secure future as the nation and the state gear up for a historic election Nov. 4.

Jobs in Maine are part of that big picture, Collins said during a whirlwind tour of the New Balance Athletic Shoe factory.

“I love New Balance, not only because they’re great ‘sneaks,’ but also because it’s jobs here in Maine and I love that New Balance has kept its commitment to manufacturing in America and not overseas,” Collins said amid the hiss and hum of the shop floor.

“I think they are the last athletic shoe company in the United States that has plants right here in America,” the senator said.

“I am for having tax credits for manufacturers who stay here. I think we should reward domestic manufacturers and not have any kind of incentives for people who move jobs overseas.”

Collins is remarks came Tuesday as her campaign for reelection winds down against challenger, Democrat U.S. Rep. Tom Allen.

As part of our previous story, New Balance unveiled a $2 million, 3,000 sq ft lab in the basement of the Lawrence manufacturing plant where technicians and engineers put New Balance running shoes through a battery of tests to determine how well they will perform under the most demanding conditions.

But no lab is complete without its guinea pigs.  So the company is looking for local runners to don New Balance shoes and run, jump, shoot hoops and do whatever else can be done in the shoes with in the confines of the lab.

Called FANtastic Kids, the program aim is to provide fitness and nutritional educational opportunities to obese children, and it has ties to the National Football League.

The New Balance Foundation is a charitable foundation established and funded by New Balance Athletic Shoe Inc., a Boston-based company known for its athletic footwear and apparel.

“The foundation’s major focus is the prevention of childhood obesity, and we seek to fund programs that help overweight children and put them on a path towards a healthier future,” Anne Davis, managing trustee of the New Balance Foundation, said in a statement. “Twenty percent of children in Boston are currently overweight, and another 25 percent are at risk.”

Some very exciting upgrades to high end models of New Balance shoes are on the way for the first quarter of 2009.

First up is the Big Upgrade of the heritage running shoes the New Balance 993.  The New Balance 993 will be replacing the New Balance 992.  Some of the new features will include an upgraded cushioning system in the heel called Abzorb DTS which is a layered cushioning system technolgy from New Balance that is now present in their elete runnning series.  The other big difference in the way the shoe will fit, especially wide sizes.  New Balance is going back to the fit of the legendary New Balance 991.  Many people who upgraded from the New Balance 991 to the New Balance 992 were unhappy with the fit.  The result was New Balance taking immidiate action and adjusting the fit and producing the New Balance 993 very quickly.  Typically this series would be out for several years.  For example the New Balance 991 was untouched for over a decade.  The New Balance 992 barely made two years.  Once New Balance got the feedback from the consumers they took swift action and went directly into the production of the New Balance 993.  MSRP will be $144.99 and pre orders can be made now up until the release date of 11/20/09 at www.nbannapolis.com

Another big update will be the New Balance 769.  The 760 series has continually been recognized by publications such as Runners’ World Magazine as an award winning shoe.  The biggest update to this shoe will be the new PL-1 Last (shape) which will be designed for the “faster runner”.  It is also going to be a lighter than the previous versions, but with out degrading the support and cushioning systems.  The New Balance 769 is a perfect shoe for the runner who has a light to moderate over pronation (rolls in) because it provides excellent inner foot and arch support as well as the premiun cushioning Abzorb from New Balance.

The New Balance 1063 will be introduced in the first quarter of 2009 as well.  The 1060 series is not as old as some of the other series, but it sure has made a possitive impression on running community.  People who wear the New Balance 1060, 1061, and 1062 have loved them.  They are a perfect shoe for a neutral runner, and provide New Balance’s premier cushioning system Abzorb DTS in the heel, and Abzorb SBS in the forefoot.  The 1063 will be lightweight, extremely breathable, and should continue have the positive feed back from serious runners.
